The teacher is a douche. That’s just how he is. Even the wannabe fratboys in class think so.

But we never expected his chauvinism to extend to the grades.

I’m not quite fluent, but my english is fairly good. The best three students in the class are three openly queer persons (me among them), a girl and a dudebro.

The dudebro consistently gets the best grades. But he’s actually foreigner so it makes sense. To a point.

We got our second oral test’s results today and I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN THIS CORRECTLY BECAUSE I AM TOO ANGRY

WOMEN GOT WORSE GRADES THAN GUYS

QUEERS GOT THE WORST

QUEERS IN THIS CLASS ARE THE BEST ENGLISH SPEAKERS

Silence of the Lambs was accused of being homophobic. There were protests at award ceremony’s. Protestors say that gay/lesbian/bisexual characters were only portrayed as the antagonist and couldn’t be a protagonist. They thought that this was eptiomised with Buffalo Bill.

Its clear from the film however that Buffalo Bill was neither gay nor a transexual.

Demme, the director of Silence of the Lambs then went on to direct Philadelphia.

Uhm, actually, it wasn’t intentional, of course, but at the time, vaguely effeminate male characters, code for gay, were always evil or at least mentally ill, and that is homophobic. After the movie, Jonathan Demme recognized that, issued a public apology and went on to direct Philadelphia :) Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite movies too, but it has its problematic stuff. That doesn’t make it any less awesome.

Why are Enjolras’ goals and causes updated to fit the modern times (for instance Les Amis are often a LGBT or a social justice group) but Feuilly is still obsessed with Poland and Jehan is still a Romantic?
